Mind merge with The Haven Foundation
The Haven Foundation has become a subsidiary of Mind in a merger that will enable increased residential support development for people with psychosocial challenges.
Mind is one of Australia’s leading non-government providers of mental health and psychosocial disability support services. The Haven Foundation provides permanent accommodation in multiple unit buildings for people with psychosocial disabilities in Victoria.
It has residences in South Yarra, Frankston and is about to begin construction of a new residence in Geelong.
Mind and Haven share a common history of person-centred mental health recovery and a focus on involvement of family and important others.
For the time being, Haven Foundation will remain the trading name used for all the residences and projects under its management, but the holding company and board will be Mind Australia Limited.
“The Haven Foundation has an excellent record of successful fundraising and land acquisition and development of housing to provide supported independent living for people with mental ill-health. These capabilities supported by our larger organisational infrastructure will result in greater opportunities for future residential developments,” says Mind Chief Executive Officer, Robyn Hunter.
Following the merger, Mind is delighted to welcome the Chair of Haven Foundation to its Board. Prof Allan Fels AO has a long and distinguished history in mental health and community housing and Mind looks forward to his continued contribution to improving housing and support outcomes for people with mental ill-health.
