Haven Geelong enters construction phase

The Haven Foundation and Mind Australia are pleased to announce that the construction of the new Haven Geelong residence is scheduled to begin in Winter/Spring 2019.

The Geelong City Council has confirmed that the Haven Foundation has met all relevant planning requirements and has issued the Certificate of Compliance for the Haven Geelong residence. Construction will take up to 10 months and the residence is expected to open around May-June 2020.

The two-storey residence will be built to a high quality standard and, like Haven South Yarra and Haven Frankston, it will be thoughtfully landscaped in harmony with its surrounds.

It will comprise 16 self-contained one-bedroom units for residents, common kitchen, dining, recreation and meeting areas, and facilities for its qualified and experienced around-the-clock support staff. It is purpose-designed to look and function like any other well designed residential development.

Haven residences create a stable and supported living environment for people in the local community who can otherwise be at risk of homelessness and of not having their mental health condition managed. Residents are not only cared for by staff but supported into education, training and employment.

This exciting and positive development will provide the opportunity for a number of people from Geelong who are living with manageable mental health conditions to receive vastly improved care and support.

Haven Geelong is the third residential development created by the Haven Foundation. Haven South Yarra and Haven Frankston have been operating since 2011 and 2018 respectively.

The Haven Foundation thanks neighbours of the Roslyn St site who have taken the opportunity to discuss the development with us.

The Haven Foundation and Mind Australia will continue to provide neighbours and the local community with updates on the development as it proceeds.
