March 2017 Update

Work on project to commence in 2017

Work is expected to commence on Haven Frankston in approximately May 2017 following the State Government’s decision to provide capital funding for the project.

December 2014 Update

FCC approves Planning permit

We are pleased to report that the Frankston City Council has approved The Haven Foundations application for a planning permit to construct 20 Units on our site at 9-11 Ebdale St Frankston.

The Haven Foundation thanks Frankston City Council for their ongoing support for this project.

The "Frankston Standard Leader" community newspaper featured an article on the project in its December 8th 2014 edition.

Quote: "A new centre in Frankston providing permament accomodation for people battling mental illness has been hailed as a major breakthrough"

Frankston Councillor Suzette Tayler remarked "This will be fantastic. Everyone deserves to have a home. We have huge problems with mental illness in society."

Councillor Glenn Aitken added "The centre was badly needed in Frankston."

 

October 2014 Update

Frankston Plans Prepared

Concept plans for the establishment of 20 fully self-contained, one bedroom units, together with common indoor/outdoor areas and staff facilities, have been developed for the Frankston project. Main features of the plans are a recreation room and internal lounge area that face an outdoor courtyard, enabling special events such as residents' birthdays and Christmas to be celebrated in an open plan indoor/outdoor setting. Also, the plans include separate courtyards for each ground floor unit, and private balconies for the first floor apartments.

The plans, which were prepared by Peter Brown Architects, were publicly displayed for the first time on 21 October at the Peninsula Carers'Council AGM, and were enthusiastically accepted by many of the families in attendance. Following a few minor amendments, the plans will be presented to the Frankston City Council at a pre-planning meeting for comment.

The units will eventually be constructed at 9-11 Ebdale Street, a site that The Haven Foundation purchased early in 2013. Upon completion of the project, THF will implement its highly successful Haven Service Model that stipulates the type of support and governance arrangements that will apply to ensure that high quality 24/7 support is provided to the 20 residents.
